Starting today evening for no reason that I can see, my finder is constantly crashing. I copy a small file, and when I click to paste, the whole folder crashes, operation not completed and I'm back on the desktop. Sometimes I click on "Get Info" on a file - same thing. Right-click on an app - crash. Random. I installed some apps today: Stuffit 11.0.2, Azureus ran it's own updates and I installed iSnip. Here's what the logs say:

Any ideas what could be causing this? TIA!

P.S. The MagicMenu is a Stuffit app.

A Big Thank You!!!

Yes, yes, yes! It did fix it! Thank you, thank you, thank you - you're a genius!

And I'm a moron... because now I remember that I came across this very issue when I was reading the messageboards for PathFinder a few weeks ago... they reported about the contextual menus finder crashing problems with Stuffit 11.0.2, and how to fix it, including the link... why do I suffer from Alzheimers?

But thank you for fixing this, it was quite annoying and worrisome. I was not looking foward to uninstalling a bunch of apps I just installed!

Finder ... forgeddabotit...
switch to Path Finder = ' Finder on steroids ' ( updates & techsupport, too ) :)

I agree about Finder... I'm frustrated by Finder beyond belief. I can hardly take it anymore, which is why I've looked to Path Finder.

Problem is, Path Finder is not a trivial piece of software - it integrates at a pretty deep level with OS X - and so is vulnerable to causing instability with any minor update by Apple (like even some security updates). So, Path Finder is scary that way.

Even so I'm so desperate and driven crazy by Finder, I'm willing to give PF a chance, which is why I was exploring it.

However, there's a kink in all of this called: Leopard. 10.5 is coming out pretty soon (April?), and I figure a)maybe Apple has finally fixed Finder, and b)that's a very major disruption at the least, should I upgrade to it, which means Path Finder may be majorly impacted.

Bottom line, I'll wait on what to do with Path Finder, after Leopard is out.

Thank you
