contact photo from someone else changed on MY phone..?

i've had the same image of my ex on the phone & mac for YEARS. she got an iphone 15, just texted me... and i now have the photo she selected as her image... on my phone and mac.

how is this possible? seems i should have the choice to allow a change, it should not happen automatically.

anyone?

ah, got it. on my iphone, 'update automatically' was on by default (!), in the contact poster setting...
