Contact specific ringtones. Any update on old bug?

I'm sad to see that IOS 6 still has issues with custom ringtones being assigned to individual contacts when syncing with Exchange.

The issue, which has existed since at least iOS 3 as far as I know, is that contact-specific ringtones (and now contact-specific vibrations) assigned to individual contacts are periodically (and apparently randomly) reset to default by Exchange.

Is this a limitation in Exchange? Is there any known workaround?

6.1 no help either. Sigh. I have to redo my custom ringtones, txt sounds and vibration patterns several times a week.
