Contact syncing issue

I added a bunch of contacts to my IPhone 4 and then sync it with my work laptop where I use Outlook. I tried several times and the new contacts I put on the phone won't go into the contacts in outlook for my laptop. On my phone I checked that email account as my default for contacts. Outlook is checked in itunes as well. I am not sure what else to make it work. Any help would be appreciated.
