Been thinking a bit about Apple's recent purchase of fringerprint technology. I am currently staying in a hotel which uses prints as the room key and I have been amazed over how much of a difference it makes.
No hassle with having to carry a key when out, if I go for a swim in the pool then no key to worry about etc frankly "it just works".
Clearly the obvious use for Apple is to have it as an option other than a PIN number to unlock the phone but think it could also be linked to payments in the next phone.
A big worry on contactless payment cards is someone steals your card and given no PIN required they can spend x £20 until you realise and report the card missing.
Ok if your phone is locked by fingerprint then may be overkill but what if Apple had a payment app and you use your fingerprint first to activate an NFC chip for a short period of time and then pay with your phone - pretty secure and people would have confidence it's safe if phone is stolen.
Also battery drain minimal as chip dormant until fingerprint enables it.
