Contacts on Tahoe is unusable for professional users. I have 5000+ contacts, and I like to search them quick and see the notes fields. All in a compact screen space. Instead, under the new Tahoe version, Contacts is displaying a huge background image and make me scroll down to see valuable information.
Is there a way to configure Contacts for a compact screen design?
What are alternatives that people use and recommend?

Here is a side-by-side comparison. Left: BusyContacts; Right: Mac Contacts (Tahoe). COntacts needs almost twice the space.

I agree that it's now a mess. If I want to see a picture of someone, I'll go to photos. I definitely don't need to have the entire window showing giant initials. I just want an efficient use of space showing the relevant information.

It was already a complaint on the phone, which has limited screen real estate, where they're insisting on showing contact icons with initials. At least you can toggle it off in some places. Out of my 2000 contacts, only about 15 have a picture so it's just large initials taking up space that could be showing the message or email content.

I run multiple screens so have plenty of real estate on it's still incredibly annoying to me. Contacts used to take up slightly more space than the weather widget and now I either have to dedicate twice as much space for it or scroll down every single time.

The new Contacts app hasn't passed the most *basic* of quality control, or bug testing.

For example:
- Use of Menus = flickering everywhere
- Can no longer copy/paste the person's name, and half the time, the detail fields are uncopyable also. This is very critical.
- When in the "Me" contact and going to "Share", when you click away, it force-opens Apple Maps for no apparent reason.

In same situation. I'm seeing the White Screen of Death when launching contacts or phone.
Workaround: force reset
I hope 26.0.1 fixes that. It's torture to be without Contacts and not to be able to dial the phone without rebooting.

Are there any contacts apps that allow you to all your Contact info local to each device; never uploaded to the cloud?
