iPhone Contacts and suggestion messed up?

For the last few days I am having issues with contacts. My group suggestions are only showing the numbers and not names. If I make a change to a contact it loses the name and shows number until I reboot.

This also affected my WhatsApp contacts as it could not recognise any names until I went in to one contact and made a small change and saved.

any ideas
