Since downloading and installing Sequoia my contacts disappeared. They are available from I-cloud via a browser, so they are not gone forever, however, no contacts available on either my M2 macbook air or my 2020 intel mac mini. Cannot update an address or birthday with no contact list. Also double and triple views of any given Birthday on Calendar. Apple Tech says " We've got no workaround but "maybe" it'll be addressed in some future update. Any help out there?

Did you try turning Contacts off and then on again on your Mac? If that doesn’t work, try signing out of iCloud and then sign in again.

Thanks, tried all that early on in the chats with the "so called" senior tech personnel at apple. Created a fake user, gathered plists to send to the engineers to examine what processes were taking place. No luck. It happened with the addition of Sequoia. I was told returning to a previous OS was not feasible. They seem to have thrown up their hands.

Export a copy of your contacts on iCloud.com as a backup if you haven't already.

Have you tried deleting the contacts database folder using Finder?
~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook
Copy the AddressBook folder to another folder as a backup. Then delete the AddressBook folder.
Close and reopen the Contacts app.

The same problem occurred for me on Sequoia 15.3. I tried various instructions that involved toggling my iCloud syncing, deleting various files, etc. None of them worked, but the following did. I launched Contacts.app – and keeping it in the foreground, I then launched Time Machine (you can do this either using Spotlight or from Time Machine's menubar icon). The contacts showed up in the Time Machine display. Then I hit the "Cancel" button to exit without doing a Time Machine Restore. The missing contacts were there in my Contacts app, and still are there.
