I just backed up and synced my 3G iphone. As always it asked me if I wanted to sync my contacts. I normally say no. I do this because the last time I said yes the sync added 10 generic name only contacts from my computer onto my iphone. So today I decided I wanted to make sure I had a back up of my address book. I synced and allowed the phone and computer contacts to match. I assumed it would take my contacts off of the phone and copy them to the computer, bringing over the wasted 10 contacts from the computer over to the phone. Instead if erased all my contacts on the phone and replaced them with the 10 name only contacts on my mac.

I restored and tried to reload the back up. I backed uped just before syncing but the only back up file was from two weeks ago. I tried to load it three times and each time got a corrupt data error. So it did not restore any of my old contacts.

Does anyone know a magic button somewhere to find or reload my old contacts?

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer. In lieu of advice, feel free to laugh at me for trusting technology to work the way it's supposed too...
