I have the area code listed for all my contacts phone numbers, and have so since I purchased my first iPhone. I've always had the area code, but not the 1 or the +1, for example:

"(555) 555-0123", but not "1 (555) 555-0123" or "+1 (555) 555-0123"

Since iOS 16, everything has been normal for my contacts that are iPhone, but recently if I get a text or call from a non iPhone user it just shows their phone number and not their contact name.

This has happened for multiple contacts even though the number matches what's in my contacts. As soon as I add the "+1" to their number in my contacts, then the Message or Call Log will show their contact name instead of the phone number. Just the "1" doesn't fix the issue, it requires the "+1".

I don't remember this happening till around iOS 16.1 ... has anyone else noticed you need the "+1" (for US contacts) for the contact name to display correctly recently?

Thanks.
