Contacts on my iPhone won't update from iTunes

I'm using:

iPhone 4S (OS 5.1.1)
Macbook Pro (10.6.8)
iTunes (10.6.3)

iTunes is not updating the iPhone 4S to the latest contacts during a sync?
I manually update everything, iCloud is not enabled.
I've tried restarting both Computer and iPhone
I've tried selectiing "Selected groups" within the conacts, other than "All contacts", still no joy.

It was working last week.

Help please.
