Hi,

I've upgraded from an iPhone 6 to an 8. Before i upgraded i thinned my contacts down from over 2500 to 998. I also got my reminders down from about 250 to 1. I then performed a manual backup of the 6.

I'm setting up the 8 by using to quick startup and chose to use the manual backup i did today on the 6 as a restore point. All was going well and i had 998 contacts and 1 reminder on the 8. However, the 8 started to get a bit laggy and taking an age to download apps so i thought i'd restart it.

On restart of the 8 i have 2591 contacts and 250 reminders. The 6 still has 998 contacts and 1 reminder.

Can anyone help me understand what is happening and how i can resolve this issue so that the 8 has only 998 contacts and 1 reminder

Many thanks in advance.

Are you syncing your contacts and reminders using iCloud? If you are, and the 2591 contacts + the 250 reminders remain on your Mac or PC, they will re-appear on your iPhone. You would need to remove the contacts and reminders you don't want from iCloud syncing.
