Contacts or Phone Book, is there any

aftermarket software (because iTunes will not allow the owner) that works with the phone book or contacts in the phone. Ever since the first time I synced my phone and it erased all my phone numbers to add what was in my Outlook Express..... I never did it again. It just seemed that the iPhone and OE wanted to do what they wanted to do......but I want to control it and my corrections or additions

You can get Funambol, so you have your contacts online and don't have to worry about losing them. Also, you should sync your contacts to Outlook or Address Book, depending on whether you have a PC or Mac.

Am I reading this correctly....MobileMe and Funambol are a monthly fee to upload you stuff....like contacts, photos and etc?

You're not reading that right with Funambol. It costs nothing. You just have to be part of the development process (participate in the forums, etc.).

You have it set up wrong, you need it to be set up not to erase and replace from Outlook.
