Contacts seem to sync while I am adding new contacts

When I try to add a new contact, I keep running into an issue where it seems that the contacts app syncs with Google and immediately clears the contact I am adding.

Does anybody know how I can prevent this?

I don't have that issue running El Capitan or Sierra and syncing Contacts app to Google contacts...my Google account is set up via System Preferences>Internet Accounts. Which version of macOS are you running?

I am running High Sierra. I can't recall having the issue with Sierra.
