Contacts Sync Trouble

Hey guys I am having trouble syncing my contacts to my iPod Touch. In the Address Book on my Mac, i created a field in the template for all contacts. Its an affiliation section. But when I then sync my contacts to my Touch, that field that I created does not show up on the Touch, why?
