Ok, so after resisting for weeks, I finally upgraded my iPhone (3GS) to iOS6 from 5. I have my contacts separated into groups (Local Business, Work, Friends, Automotive, etc.). Before the "uprade" if I wanted a number for someone in, say, my "Friends" group, I simply tapped the friends group in my contact App and viola, I would get a list of my "Friends" group.

NOW, when I tap "Friends" group, it only puts a check mark next to the group and I have to tap the "done" button, to open up the selected group (or groups). Then, if the next time I want to opn say, just my "work" group numbers, I tape "Work" and it puts a check mark, then I tap "done". However, unless I tap "Friends" again, the check mark will still be there and when I tap done BOTH groups will open. What a pain. Is there any way to make Contacts on my iPhone work the way it used to unger this new iOS?

OP, I use groups a lot, too, and it was indeed an awful change. Mind boggling, in fact. It's been brought up before and there's no way get back to the previous functional setup. All we can do is send feedback to Apple and hope common sense prevails in a future update.

What would be the best avenue for doing that?

Thank you! Here is the feedback I sent them - I would encourage everyone who reads this and who doesn't like the changes in how Contacts works (or the fact that you can no longer delete individual songs from iPhone if Match is turned on) to send a similar feedback using the above link. My Feedback:

I have a 32 GB iPhone 3GS and love it, but I recently upgraded (reluctantly) to iOS6. There are some changes in how Contacts and iTunes work that I absolutely hate!

First the contacts. It used to be that when I tapped on a group in my contacts, it would immediately open that group. Now, when I tap a group, it just puts a check mark next to the group, and I have to tap "done" to open the group. I understand that now I can "check" several groups before opening, but I have never ever had a need to do that - that's the whole point of having separate groups. I also find that if I later want to open a different group, I need to "uncheck" the previous group first, lest I open both groups.

iTunes: I find that now, if I have iTunes Match turned on, I can no longer delete individual songs from my iPhone. Are you kidding me?

From a human factors perspective, these two changes are not improvements. They may have been well intended, but both are a step in the wrong direction - especially how the Contacts now works.

I hope that in a later update you will at least give me the option to have Contacts and iTunes work similarly to the way they did under iOS5.
