My contacts did not transfer from ical to iCloud when I updated. Is there an easy way to now do this without having to put them into iCloud contacts one by one.

First of all, contacts don't come from iCal, they come from address. Before you do anything else, launch address.app and export (back up) all of your contacts.

Once you have them backed up, you should be able to enable sync in system preferences. I'm not fully ported over from mobile me just yet so I don't know what the new setting looks like but I'm sure it's there in the iCloud section of system preferences.

Thanks all sorted now. My iCloud was just not working at all, I now have it all working and contacts are there as well.:)
