This issue has persisted for quite some time. It's very annoying.

When I click on a file to download it from the internet, the download window opens. I see the progress of the download as well as the little 'x' icon to cancel and the 'magnifying glass' to find where the download is going.

So far so good.

Immediately when the file completes the contents of the window clear out. At which point I have to manually find the download through the Finder.

I've changed the option to delete the contents of the window "manually".

That didn't solve the problem.

Thoughts?

Do you have Private Browsing turned on? I'm assuming you're using Safari.

I'm using OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.4
I'm using Safari

Typically I browse with Private Browsing turned on to prevent clutter in my history window.
(I know private browsing isn't all that private when looked up in the terminal window)

Is this what prevents the download window from remaining populated after the download is complete? Is there a work around for this?
