Hello. I am making occasional forays into my High Sierra partition (my regular boot-up OS is Sierra, but I am feeling my way into High Sierra, for when it is finalised by Apple). My problem with High Sierra is that, if I open a Finder window, and navigate from the full iMac to High Sierra > Users > my home folder, I cannot make an alias of my home folder (or indeed, of any item in that window) by Control-clicking or right-clicking. The contextual menus simply don't appear. Yet, if I Control-click on any item that shows on my desktop, the contextual menus do appear. It doesn't seem to be feasible to drag out my Home Folder onto my desktop, simply to get that desired alias, so there does not seem to be any solution to the problem. In a similar situation in my regular (Sierra) boot-up OS, I can obtain the contextual menus easily.

Is there something that I don't know about how High Sierra works, or is this difficulty a failing of the High Sierra OS? And can anyone offer a solution to this problem?

With thanks in advance for any helpful response,
C.H.
