i tried this out for the first time yesterday, and am blown away by the results. Easy and seamless, and instantly supported by apps like Zoom and OBS.

Resolution, sharpness, and noise on the cameras on my iPhone 13 mini are all a dramatically improvement over the built-in camera on my 2021 MacBook Pro M1 Max 16”. Like, shockingly improved. It’s hard to believe one of these devices cost over 5 × the other.

The light sensitivity, sharpness, and lack of noise makes a HUGE difference when using a green screen and chroma key in OBS. I could not get rid of the shimmering fringe on my MBP camera, but the phone chroma key is crisp and stable using exactly the same settings.

I'm going to start using this regularly now, and hacked together a quick DIY mount to hang my phone off the back of my display using nothing but zip ties and some PVC tubing for cushioning.

This is a great feature. All the workarounds and third-party apps I previously had to use to accomplish this were a pain in the butt, and often did not work reliably. Well done, Apple.

It does seem great. So Apple, how about moving the same software to tvOS so we can "continuity" on the biggest screen in our homes too? The ability to FaceTime that way has long been a commonplace wish... even driving people to think they want the Frankenstein device of combined AppleTV + FaceTime Camera + HomePod Soundbar and sometimes Router too.

Continuity Camera can deliver this via software that now exists if that software was ported to tvOS. That seems much better than having to position Frankenstein only directly below or directly above a TV to get the camera in the right place... and then throwing Frankenstein out when tvOS updates obsoletes that whole, long before the speaker & cameras natural life, and probably before the routers too.

Since tvOS always seems to be looking for an interesting new feature or two at WWDC, this seems like such an obvious, "easy" one, I'll be surprised if it doesn't show up there sooner or later.
