Continuous import of separate clips on a tape

I am sitting here hitting import over and over - Apparently iMovie has to stop when it hits a break or pause in the tape. Has anyone come up with a method to get it to keep importing the separate clips until it reach tape end or user input?

are you referring to time code breaks? just record black over the whole tape prior to shooting. once it's been recorded that way, there's nothing i know of to make it any easier.
