Is it possible to be able to control my windows laptop with my Mac mouse and keyboard by sliding my mouse off the side of my mac screen to the windows screen in a similar way to Multiplicity?

Many thanks

Not quite...

I did use VNC to do it. VNC Server on the PC, and "Chicken of the VNC" on my Mac. Only using a 100 Mbs network - so performance was OK - not great. Should try it again now I've got Gigabit network ports on my Mac pro now - but then Parallels gives me effectivly the same functionality - but only one box under my desk.

Try Synergy: http://synergy2.sourceforge.net/

Synergy is cross-platform. Works on Macs, Windows, and Linux. Takes a bit of hacking, but it works *extremely* well.

As for the Stardock product, I'm generally not a big fan of Stardock, but that's me. ;)

Synergy (http://synergy2.sourceforge.net/), is not remote desktop. There's virtually *no* performance loss, and it can do what the parent post is asking.

Yup, Synergy looks good. Thanks very much!!

You're not kidding! I've never had to use a terminal based app before, this should be interesting...

Replies are so quick on MacRumours, i was expecting to see a reply in the morning!

Problem, synergy throws up the error...

Code:
FATAL: unknown screen name `andrews-computer.local'

... in Terminal. Andrew's Computer is my mac's name. Any ideas whats happened?

Not entirely sure there, but you might want to try Engadget's guide on this. It includes Windows and Mac OS X installation instructions:

Oh, and I *JUST* discovered this. GUI for Synergy for Mac OS X. I haven't tried it, but give it a whirl (peeps on Lifehacker.com gave it thumbs up):

thank you so much w00master, the GUI version works perfectly! It works so well.

I still don't know why my first attempt didn't work, but it doesn't matter now anyway.

Once Synergy is up and running its super smooth, I especially like the way that the cursor moves from one screen to another: top of mac, moves to top of laptop, the bottom of the screen too and any other point on the mac moves to the relative point on the laptop even though my iMac has 1200 vertical pixels and my laptop only has 800.

I recommend this solution to anyone who has more than one computer on their desk! Thanks again.

May I recommend a program called www.logmein.com? I use it all the time from both my Mac and my PC and it works like a charm. You can use it for free, too.

Which one do I download to my mac? Can somebody link me to the file to download for a mac? I downloaded the one in Binaries .exe for my PC
