iPhone 12 Control Switch on Mac

Not sure if this is the right place, but…when I am on my Mac and I select Switch Control then choose my iPhone, am I supposed to receive a prompt/give access to my iPhone on my iPhone screen? Or do I just start seeing what’s there on the Mac screen?
