Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone here has any knowledge of using Compressor from the command line. I've been trying to submit jobs to Compressor but the command never works:

Code:
[b]quicktime:/Applications/Media/Compressor.app/Contents/MacOS admin$[/b] sudo ./Compressor -clustername controller1_cluster -batchname test24nov_02 -jobpath /Users/admin/Movies/orig/sydfilm.wmv -settingpath /Users/admin/Library/Application\ Support/Compressor/Web\ Streaming\ \(QuickTime\ 7\ compatible\)/H.264\ 300Kbps\ Streaming.setting -destinationpath /Users/admin/Movies/rendered/sydfilm_test24nov_02.mov

Terminal gives no errors and acts as if the command has been successfully processed. However, the job never shows up in Batch Monitor and is never carried out. The Activity Monitor shows some activity (the compressord and qmastertaskd processes show increased activity) but then it just seems to give up and never finish carrying out the job.

  • The cluster name is controller1_cluster. It's been set up on a computer named quicktime which has been shared as a QuickCluster with services.
  • Compressor is located in a folder in Applications called Media rather than being located in the root folder of Applications.
  • I'm using Compressor 2.1 on Mac OS Server 10.4.7.
  • Compressor works fine using the GUI. I just can't submit jobs using the command line.

I've read the Compressor manual and I've tried using the -help switch (which gives even less information than the manual). I can't figure out what's wrong with the command I'm trying to send to Compressor. If anyone can help me out and get this working, it would be much appreciated!
