Hello

Here's an example link:- https://x704.net/bbs/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=9175

On my iMac, the link opens instantly and takes me to a forum thread.

I sent the same link to my friend and he tried to open it on his iPad and iPhone - with no success at all.
I tried opening the link on MY iPad and iPhone.
The link does not work on either of my hand-held devices.☹️

There MUST be a reason. Does anyone know why the link works only on my iMac?

I think it's to do with how your browser deals with those GDRP notices on that site. It worked in Safari and Brave but not DuckDuckGo on iOS. Maybe a content blocker is interfering. It's really odd how it loads the notices and completely blanks the page when doing so.

Thanks for responding. Do you mean that you changed the browser on both your iPhone and iPad?
I was unaware that I could do that, but have now looked in the Apple App Store!
I have never before been unable to open a link on my hand held devices, so still wonder what was so special about the x704 site.

Yes, I have multiple browsers installed in iOS and tried a few.

It seems like it’s something about how those notices load. The site seems to load a blank page or redirects to a blank page for loading the notices. Then load the site after accepting them.

For some reason this confuses some browsers. Maybe it triggers a blocker or security setting. Whatever it is. It prevents the notices from loading. Without accepting them. The site won’t load.

at least that’s how it appears to me.

Many thanks for explaining - and for taking the time and trouble to investigate.
