Recently my mom bought me a pair of Converse Shoes because my old ones "were too old and too small" But she bought me a pair of Jack Purcell Converse shoes, these look yucky and are endorsed by a badminton player/stockbroker:eek: So, just for interests sake, does nayone else actually own or know anyone that owns a pair of these aforementioned Jack Purcell converse shoes? Am I just being silly or these actually pretty crappy?

I had a pair for awhile... I liked them They have a different toe area and they look slightly different and sort of classy. :)

Wore them 'til they had holes in 'em and even fog would make my socks damp. ;)

Weird to get shoes without trying them on i would have thought. Dont own/ know anyone who owns them.

They don't look that bad...just a glancing at them, they look like they are trying to be old-skool Van's or something. Same story as any Converse, overpriced...you are paying extra so Nike can pay the admen to convince you to shell out the $$$. But they don't look too bad...unless she bought you this pair

Luckily I never got those, the pair I got are a black pair of low cut ones. But they just don't have the same appeal as my old busted "normal" pair...

I never really understood the appeal of Chucks. No support, no cushion, and the look isn't exactly striking. oh well...

Just be glad they aren't endorsed by Henry Purcell.

Oh, I don't know. The shoe's of the 1600's were quite fetching!

It's a nickname for certain Converse (Chuck Taylors). Yeah, they're frankly some pretty bad shoes, but they were worth it when they were cheap, pre-Nike. I used to go through a pair every four months or so, no matter how much duct tape I'd use. I have since found that Airwalk makes a look-alike that you can get for $15 at Payless. Woo!

Chuck Taylors are the kind that you depicted. Jack Purcell is the kind I depicted.

FWIW, I also don't think any Converses I've ever tried on were comfortable. But I do like the simplicity of their looks.

But they (used to be) cheap! After they got bought by nike, the cost went up $5 across the board, and don't look as good as they used to.
I got a pair of $10 knock-off chucks from target. I slipped some insoles from the dollar store into them and they feel great! I love having young feet! :D

And I think people liked 'em because they looked so generic. I know all the "art" kids would scribble all over them, the "rich" kids would make sure they were polished and perfectly tied with bleached white laces, and I just wore mine until they fell apart. :p
(the two observations ["art" and "rich"] are just anecdotal things I observed while in school. Don't hang me if it doesn't describe you, individually. :))

And the rich art kids wrote really carefully and cleanly on their pristine shoes. :p

Oh okay, I didn't know that, we always called then Converse All-Stars when we were kids; not that there's anything wrong with wearing them as an adult. ;)
Converse All-Stars are different, too. ;) They often have a star on the outside.
