Hello,
Is there a good way to convert AVCHD to a to either a different high resolution format that is easier to work with in Final Cut Pro, or to convert AVCHD to a format with lower resolution, such as mini DV?
I have a Macbook Pro (2.2 GHz dual core, 128 MB VRAM, 2 GB RAM to upgrade to 4 GB). A guy in Final Cut Pro tech support said my laptop will work fine with a Canon HF10, which uses AVCHD. However, many (most?) of the reports Ive read on the net report problems with this set up, such as really slow workflow or crashing. Turns out the Apple site says I would need a Mac Pro: AVCHD and AVC-Intra editing support using ProRes (requires Mac Pro).
Im new this forum, and my only experience with video editing is limited to Adobe Premier and Sony Vegas, years ago. Ive only edited on Mini-DV. Ive pretty much decided to buy FCP to use no my laptop, rather than buy a hot PC and Sony Vegas Pro 8. I dont think I can take using a PC again.
Many thanks,
Chris
