I recently shot a video of a band and another friend also shot with his camera. He gave me a dvd of his footage, and it's avi files.
How can I convert the avi to mov files so I can use his footage also in imovie09? (Is FREE an option?)

I downloaded a few things and tried to do this myself...but me stupid girl...don't have "geek" wings yet;)

Thanks!

MPEG Streamclip is free, and will convert it to a number of different formats.

If you have Toast, that should work. If you don't have Toast, you can try Handbrake, which is free, although I'm not sure it can output to .mov.

Okay I now have streamclip...

Thanks...r.j.s...
How do I convert? I moved an avi file into the window and it brought up all these options? Yikes?
