Hi everyone, could someone recommend a FREE AVI to MPEG -2 convertor software program? Does one even exist? I'm seeing a lot of buy ware when I Googled it. Anyone?

I have MPEG Streamclip, but the 'Convert to MPEG' option is greyed out, any ideas?

MPEG Streamclip is a QuickTime application. AVI is a container format that may contain audio and video tracks in any of a number of formats. The most popular AVI format is DivX. You may also download and install the Perian codec suite. With either of these codecs installed, MPEG Streamclip should handle the conversion without issue.
I have the Perian codec you linked installed on my computer, and the option is still greyed out. I'll try the Divx codec. Thanks
