Have a MAC OS X version 10.6.7. About a year old. Transferred data from my old Lotus system to the MAC. It is garbled. Is it possible to make legible? Thanks for your help.

Convert Lotus to iMAC

Lotus Smart Suite (millennium edition) is soft ware that was in my old computer. My old documents were transferred to my new iMAC and most of them came out encrypted (garbled) as shown here. This is just a portion of one of the documents. Thanks for your interest in helping me.

OK I see whats happening here, this Lotus software package has its own spreadsheet and its own word processing software, these have their own formats which arent understood unless you have software that has the ability to read it. If you transferred your files to another PC, you'd have exactly the same issue unless you installed Lotus package on it.

So you need an application on Mac that can read Lotus-format files.
Googling shows Lotus Symphony for Mac which appears to be free, and reads the Smart Suite formats, so start with that.

If that doesn't work, try downloading Open Office, also free.
