Hello,

I was hoping to copy over some .mov's (from a Canon p&s) to my new iPad so I can "edit" then in iMovie while on a long flight. Apparently the iOS version of iMovie doesn’t like my files and it won't even send them from Aperture to the iPad when synching using iTunes. It send movies I took with my iPhone that are stored in Aperture but nothing from my p&s.

After doing some searching it looks like they need to be converted before I can transfer them. But most of the threads seem over a year old and pre lion referencing QT features that aren't in QT anymore.

Does anyone have a Lion specific set of instructions for converting or maybe something else to get my .mov's over to my iPad and available in iMovie iOS?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

You need either QuickTime Pro which I understand is now a free download from Apple. Also, the QuickTime-based MPEG Streamclip will do the trick.

Download Handbrake for free and convert them to an iOS friendly format? :)

I tried handbrake but it won't open the .mov's from my camera

QT Pro appears to still be $29.99
I tried MPEG Streamclip using directions I found posted somewhere....after conversion I still can't transfer the files to my iPad.

I'll give that one a try, if it works $10 is cheaper than $29 for QT Pro
