I downloaded several TV shows that were recorded on my ReplayTV. I can open the MPEG2 files up in QuickTime, however QT will not allow me to edit the files. I have QT Pro and the MPEG2 Plug-In. What file format/compression codec should I export the MPEG 2 files out to, so that QuickTime will allow me to edit out the commercials? I have tried the regular MOV format, but after 5 hours of processing... QuickTime crashed. Would DV or MPEG4 be a better solution? Each file is around 1.3GB in size.

My goal is edit out the commericals, and save them out to my Mac mini at a reasonable size/quality so that they can be viewed on my home DLP projector.
