I have this old enclosure made by Datoptic, which I'd love to convert to USB 3.0 .

It's a five bay Raid enclosure, with USB 2.0 and 2 FW 800 ports ; I'm using it as a JBOD drive for storage .
I'm wondering if I could just replace the old USB/FW ports and plug some USB 3.0 bridge board into the RAID/ port multiplier (?) board instead ( I have no idea about these things ... ) .

I've attached images below - any advice would be greatly appreciated .

I found a little more info on the internal components .

It seems this is the bridge board with the ports - Link .

And the port multiplier thingy - SPM393-SIV .

Now I'm wondering if I could simply replace the original FW/USB bridge board with something like this USB part .
