Convert Real Video Files To MPG

Hi everyone!

I was hoping if someone could point me in the right direction for a free program that can convert from Real video files to MPG, or any other format that can work in iMovie.

I have not tried to convert real files, but it says it does real video and real audio. I use the program to convert movies of the family into itunes compatible formats (avi to mp4). Or rip DVDs into itunes compatible formats. Works great. Its free, just has a reminder to donate if you like it.
