Convert SD video to HD video

It seems unlikely... but I was wondering if there is a way to convert SD movies, to HD movies? Or if not to HD, at least to a higher resolution so they don't look so grainy on my Macbook Pro?

You need to google upscaling. There are a few apps to do this.
