what i want to know is:

• is this compatible with the 117d in an emac?
• is there a way to do it without a pc. the hardmac article mentions using a pc to flash it
• will it void any warranties.

i have no use for 16x or dual-layer burning, but i'd just like to know in case cd speeds are sped up
