Convert .ts to .avi - HELP

Hi,

I've searched numerous forums, including this one for a solution on how to convert .ts files taken from my Starview 4 box and converting them so i can watch them on my macbook and stream to my PS3, but haven't had any luck in finding a application that does this.

I have used Visualhub and Handbrake but they say the file in unsupported.

Has anyone found any software that can convert this filetype?
