Hello all, maybe someone here can help me.
I was trying to setup a VPN on my macbook pro using an app called VPN enabler. Somehow that app turned my only account (radicalxedward) from a regular admin account into an "Admin, Sharing-only" account that wasn't available to log into. All I could log into was the guest account. I've managed to enable the root account and therefor have full access to the system again, but the old admin account (which i'd like to go back to using) is still stuck as sharing only. I was able to set it's home folder to the old home folder and bash back to the default (home got changed to /var/empty and it's shell was changed to /bin/bash/failt) and that allows me to see the account on the login screen, but when i log in, the os acts like it's a new account.
I tried making a test account where i customized it a bit (wallpaper, dock, etc), then from a different account, changed the home folder and shell for the test account. When I logged into the test account after that it did the same as radicalxedward and acted like it was a new account (default wallpaper, dock, folders, etc) but when i logged out, switched to another account and changed the test accounts home folder and shell back to normal, and logged back into the test account, it went back to the way i customized it. I had hoped this would work for the radicalxedward account too but it doesn't. and i don't know how to get it to not be a sharing only account either. (I know how to make a sharing only account, but not revert it back when it was originally a normal account)
I'm sorry if this was confusing, please ask about anything you don't understand. I really need help with this.
UPDATE: I was able to fix it through the following steps:
