Convert WAV files to MP3

I have been searching the net to find a program which will convert WAV files to MP3 or AIFF files on the MAC. So far, I have been unsuccessful. Anyone offer any pointers?

if you import the WAV files into iTunes cant you convert them to MP3 or AAC through that?

If you're using a Mac, and the WAVs are of the compressed type, then you're basically ...ed, iTunes for Mac handles uncompressed WAVs just fine, but the compressed sort depends on a Windows spesific codec. Burn the files to a CD, bring them over to your favorite Windows owner and use iTunes for Windows to convert to mp3 (or even better aac).
