Convertinator: Your Last Unit Conversion App.

Hi everyone,

some time ago I was struggling with the many unit conversion apps out there. Some of them required a gazillion taps to get a result, some of them didn't have the units I wanted or had me constantly switching between several units; others I simply found hard to look at. So I set out and created my own.

So, I'd like to take the opportunity to point out the recent release of CONVERTINATOR, the last unit conversion app you'll ever download. Why? Because it's fun, good-looking and easy to use. Also, there's already a number of updates in the pipeline, including the switch to universal so YOU can take the conversion anywhere you want.

Updates Galore

We have a number of updates in the pipeline, but I wanted to ask you guys what features you think are most important. So here's a list of things we're currently planning to implement in future versions and I'd love to hear your feedback.

• make app universal
• fix feet / inch text display (e.g. 6'1" instead of 6,1234 ft)
• better visibility of notification bar (bottom)
• increase visual feedback for erroneous input
• more information on selected units (e.g. spell out, describe)
• additional categories / units

Upcoming Bugfixes

Hi everyone,
today we've been made aware there's a rounding issue with one of the time units, which we're working on to fix immediately. We hope to have the update live within next week. You may also want to have a look at our official blog, where this week we'll be showing some of the progress with the Universal version. That's right, Convertinator will be upgraded to Universal at no extra cost in the first major version update in fall! Until then, have a look-see at our blog for some info on the iPhone version:

Good looking app, but I don't like how you have these big black rectangles that you throw each section in. Try to make it more flush, though I'm not sure how.

Well, I could try and make them look less massive, e.g. making them smaller, or less "black" by decreasing opacity / changing color. I'll have a look and see how testers respond to that, thanks for the input!

v1.0.2 in Review

Hi all,
by now we have submitted the third version of Convertinator while the universal version is taking shape. We want to make sure it's 100% iOS 6 compatible, which means the release of our much anticipated 1.1 version will take a bit longer than expected.

As for the reason for this latest version, well - there was a shocking bug related to some country-specific settings. I guess we didn't test enough after all (seems you never do): Under certain conditions, the app got confused with the decimal separation character ("." or "," depending on your country) and would only display single digits, which looked rather awful. Fortunately, we could find and fix this bug easily. Did any of you experience this or similar "game-breaking" bugs in other apps? Does it make you feel angry about the "lazy developers"? Do you accept such behavior if it is fixed in a timely manner? Let me know.
