could anyone recommend a decent audio file converter please? I am making sound loops to use in flash and they must b in mp3 format so that i can load them off a server and also for space conservation. so far i have tried sound studio, logic and itunes and all their mp3 conversions leave me with silence at the beggining of the track, which for a loop is unacceptable.

QuickTime Pro or SoundConverter

iTunes works fine, you set the importer to whatever MP3 settings you require, select the track (or tracks) and then select "convert track".

You'll end up with an aiff and an MP3 version in the iTunes library.
