Hi,

I have some home movies on DVD and need to compile them on one DVD Disk. I have a new mac with IDVD and IMovie HD. Is this possible? If so, do I need to buy software/hardware to accomplish this?

Any help would be very much appreciated!

Thanks,
Amy

It may take a while.
First you need to rip ad encode the dvds with Handbrake (can be downloaded for free). Set the quality high (2000kbps) so the files you get are good.
If you want to take bits out of dvd's, you might have to use MPEG Streamclip to extract the segments for you. Again, encode at high quality.
Then you import the resulting .mp4 files into iMovie.
Then you edit your movie whatever way you want, and add chapters etc in iMovie, and finally share to iDVD which will create all the menus for you and do the burning to dvd.

Have a look at some of the templates in iDVD before you get cracking, the menu structure might give you some ideas how to lay it out.
