Converting DVD's to iPod format?

I just bought myself a 5th generation ipod and I have found a way to rip dvds and convert them to ipod format, but unfortunately, i am forced to do it one by one [it was a season of a tv show, and I had to do it episode by episode] which took foreeevvveerrrr :'(
So are there any absolutely free programs out there that will allow me to rip dvds [multiple files at a time] and then convert them to ipod format [multiple files at a time] like in a batch?
