converting .flv for free?

Hi,

I download videos using safari from youtube by pressing window, then activity and then while on the youtube page double-clicking on the largest file.
Anyways that is how I get them but they are in .flv files that cannot be read by quicktime, ipods or iTunes. Is there a FREE way to convert them?

Podtube is a popular one, if your needs are limited to Youtube in particular, as it makes it very simple.

Several of those threads mention VisualHub and iSquint -- they were very popular but they're not currently available. However, VisualHub is coming back as an open source app called Transcoder Redux that might be worth looking at.

Yep, Perian.

For converting to iTunes and use on iPod, Podtune looks promising.
