converting from hd to sd

i have done so many conversions that i have now gave up.

i have hd footage imported into final cut pro 7 edited and now i am trying to make an sd dvd. The quality is so bad, standard sd seems to be way better than the quality i have.

also, you can mainly tell with the motion graphics that i have used, seems pixelated and coulour not right aswell.

is down conversion simple? but frustrating for me.

i have final cut studio 3 so do not lack in any software i believe. i have searched everywhere, and tried different formats, no luck. am i missing something.

can someone please guide me...thanks
