Converting SVCD to mpeg4

Does anyone know how to convert svcd to mpeg4. I've got a file, which i can view in very short segments through vlan player, but i dont seem to be able to view them together. I've used macvcd to try and view the clip, but it wont recognise the format for some reason

any suggestions?
