Converting video file formats

I have real player files, .rmvb, but i want to convert them to .avi, since .rmvb files arent readable in all the media center programs i want to run.

What programs are out there to convert files? I googled it, but couldnt find anything.

But I didn't get any success.

there is nothing available for MAC and FFX only work for music files... not video rvmb. (well, i have no luck with video anyway)
