Converting wav/wma to mpeg???

I was wondering if I need to change the file format for some music files (.wav) (.wma) from a friend before iTunes can play/burn them? If so, is there a free program I can use to convert them?

iTunes can handle wav, wma is another story. As far as I could find there are NO free wma -> mp3 converters for windows, but there is one for mac, search on versiontracker.com
