I was in a recording studio today observing music being created for a television commercial. The company had sent the voice-over track in WMA but the recording studio is Mac-based. The engineer was griping about how he told them to send either mp3 or AIFF. Is there a way to convert Windows media (WMA, WMV) to Apple-friendly formats such as .AIFF or .mov?

iTunes for Windows utilizes a Windows API to allow you to convert from wma to a proper audio format, though this is not available in Mac OS X, so you'll need a Wintel box to do that.

Otherwise, you can play it back and re-record it by running the headphone into the microphone port, and you should get a pretty clean transfer.
