Hi All,

Please forgive the length of this post as my knowledge is quite basic & I struggle with technical stuff. To help mitigate this, I have posted screenshots where I felt needed in order to provide better information & convey things clearer.

I need help with convoluted Time Capsule issues. I have been using a 2TB TC for quite some time without any issues.

I then started getting messages that stated:

My Original Time Capsule Name is/was: “SuaveBhav!’s Time Capsule” so when I saw the name of a sparse bundle called “Epson SX535WD” I became worried as this was my wireless printer & I could not figure out where this came from, how it was created & why it was interfering with my TC & Time Machine Backing up.

In the Finder Page under “Shared” & “Devices” I saw my wireless printer for some reason & inside the pane were two icons – Macintosh HD & Network:

Upon clicking the Network icon, a new Pane opens showing SuaveBhav’s Time Capsule:

Upon clicking this TC icon it shows a folder called Data:

Clicking the Data icon shows two sparse bundles – my normal one & the Epson one as well as a blue Data icon on the desktop:

I have no idea how the EpsonSX535WD sparse bundle was created. Upon clicking the SuaveBhav!’s sparse bundle, a white icon called Time Machine Backups appears on the desktop:

If I click on the Epson sparse bundle another white icon also called Time Machine Back Ups appears on the desktop:

Upon clicking the first White Time Machine icon, it shows a Backups.backupdb folder:

Clicking on this Backups.backupdb folder shows a folder called “SuaveBhav!’s Macbook Pro (2)” (I do not know where the (2) came from):

Finally, clicking on this “normal’ SuaveBhav!’s Macbook Pro folder, it shows a number of backs ups made by Time Machine:

If I repeat this entire process with the other Epson SX535WD sparse bundle & the second White Time Machine Backup icon on the desktop it shows in sequence:

It seems that for some reason, my time machine back ups were being made to this Epson Folder after a while which I was unaware of until I started getting the error messages I posted at the beginning.

I got scared & did not want to mess with anything so I got another Time Capsule and have been backing on to that for the time being.

I would like to put everything back to normal again & wish to ask, can I just copy the numerous contents/folders from the final Epson SX535WD Time Machine Back Folder shown above & paste them into the proper “SuaveBhav!’s Macbook Pro (2)” Folder (4 screenshots prior) & merge all the various back ups into the one proper folder & get rid of the “(2)” after the name? Can I then also delete the then empty Epson SX535WD Folder?

If not, what else can de done to merge the contents together so that I can get everything back to as normal as possible & get rid of the “Epson SX535WD” sparse bundle & folder?

I found out the cause of why there were a option called “Epson SX535WD” under devices & folders by that name was due to the Computer Name being called that under the sharing pane of system preferences – absolutely no idea how as I have always called my computer “SuaveBhav’s Macbook Pro” I have recently changed it to “Bhavesh’s Macbook Pro”

As mentioned earlier, I bought a second TC that I have been backing up to thinking I will first merge the contents of the two sparse bundles on the first TC together & when that is done, I will merge them with the contents of my second TC so everything is all in one & in date and so I will not have lost any of my data and/or back ups.

However, I have found out that as the total amount of back ups between the first TC with the two sparse bundles & second one which I currently use exceeds 2TB, I will have to buy yet another bigger 3TB TC that I can then put everything back on a single TC. However, before I incur the expense of this, I wish to at least merge the contents of the two sparse bundles of the first TC so everything is in order & date sequence and then finally merge that with the current one in use on the new 3TB one.

I would really welcome any & all help & advice as I am way out of my depth here – I am more of a “Monkey See – Monkey Do” person when it comes to these things so please take this into account!

Sincere apologies for the length of the post but due to my limitations in explaining things technically, I thought it best to post screenshots in order of things & as a picture is worth a thousand words so they say!

Many Kind Thanks!
Bazzy!
